We had a good time at this year's Mid-Winter Conference in Minneapolis. This is the conference where the VFW honors the Teacher of the Year, Patriots Pen winner and Voice of Democracy winners. There are some very talented and patriotic students out there. There was also a Buddy Poppy display contest in which our very own Susan won 2nd place in the Category II display. Great job everyone!! Congratulations to all our winners.
I've updated the Featured Links on the left some sites I hope you will find useful and interesting. I've also updated a few sites on the Links Directory, for instance, do you know who is eligible to receive a Burial Flag? Do you know who can get a Presidential Memorial Certificate, you'll be surprised who is eligible. Are you a Family Caregiver of a Veteran? You don't have to do it alone, see how the VA can help you.

Happy New Year!! A little late but it took a little time to re-design all the pages to this website. Hopefully it will be a lot better for you to get around and easier to update. There are more changes in store, mostly cosmetic and functional but all the pages are useable. If you'd like to see something different or have any comments on the design, let me know.

We had the children's Christmas party today and what a turnout. We had a packed house and everyone had a good time. There was cookie decorating, picture coloring (pictures will be sent to our troops overseas) and Santa's work shop with an elf, and a Magician entertained everyone. Even Santa Claus and Ms. Claus showed up to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and the kids could have their pictures taken with them. All the children received a present and were fed. Everyone had smiles when they left and that's always a good thing.
On a different note, you've probably notice the threat advisory notification has changed. That's because the NTAS (National Terrorism Advisory System) replaces the color coded HSAS (Homeland Security Advisory System). I used to have to check the HSAS for changes in the color codes but now I've linked to the NTAS and if there are any changes, the notification will automatically update and you will instantly be informed. Click on the link and learn more.

Today marks the 70th anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor. Today is a day of honoring not only the 1,177 victims of the Japanese attacks, but all of those who bravely served in World War II. If you know a Veteran who served during WWII, thank them for their service. And if you are a Veteran, thank you for your service.

It looks like there hasn't been an update for awhile, however, there were updates done in the background and on other pages. I didn't have much time to update any comments on this page. The Post has been alive with a lot of events happening this fall with lots of delicious meals being served, a band playing every week and recently the Marine Corps Birthday Ball took place. The weather has been decent enough to allow people to get out and enjoy all the events and camaraderie at the Post. I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving meal and enjoyed it with their family and friends. And I hope everyone remembered, and are thankful for, all the Soldiers protecting your freedoms who were unable to enjoy Thanksgiving with their loved ones at home. May God bless and protect our Veterans and families serving overseas and away from home.
